2nded · Severance second opinion
About 2nded & our review method
Who publishes this site
2nded is published by Austin Spademan and provides a free automated second opinion on severance and separation agreements. The service helps people organize the terms they have been offered and prepare questions for an employment attorney. It is not a law firm or an attorney-reviewed opinion.
Questions, corrections or privacy requests can be sent to austin@2nded.com. Do not email a confidential agreement unless you have arranged an appropriate way to share it.
How an agreement is processed
- For a readable PDF, text is extracted in your browser. Image-only scans may need to be pasted as text instead.
- The text is sent to our service. Pattern-based checks look for amounts, time periods, names, governing state and selected clause types. These checks are not a legal interpretation of the entire agreement.
- An AI provider receives the text to generate plain-English explanations and questions. The result combines rule-based findings with AI-assisted observations. If the explanation is unavailable, the rule-based findings may still appear.
- You compare each finding with the original agreement. A missing term means the tool did not find it, not that the agreement necessarily omits it. Labels express review priority, not your probability of winning a claim.
The sample agreement is fictional. It demonstrates the format of a review; it is not a real customer's case or evidence of a successful negotiation.
What the tool cannot establish
It cannot tell you whether to sign, value a potential claim, confirm enforceability, calculate a reliable legal deadline, or determine whether an offer is fair. It does not know your age, full employment history, employer policies or every applicable state law. Documents over 45,000 characters or PDFs over 40 pages are rejected rather than partially reviewed. Unusual wording can be missed. Always check every page of the original.
Dates in the document can differ from the date it was delivered or the date you sign. Do not rely on an extracted number as a calendar reminder or deadline calculation. Contact a licensed attorney directly if time is short.
How we prepare the guides
The guides are general educational material published by 2nded, not individualized legal advice. Each includes primary sources for the federal or state rules discussed and clearly labeled hypothetical examples. Federal age-waiver rules apply only in the circumstances described; Illinois examples are not nationwide rules.
No independent attorney review is claimed. The content revision date records our editing work, not legal certification. If a guide conflicts with a current statute or agency publication, use the primary source and raise the difference with an attorney.
Read the signing-deadline guide and its sourcesIntroductions, advertising and compensation
The automated review is free and does not require an account or a referral request. Attorney connection services are separate, depend on provider availability, and are not guaranteed. Attorneys set their own fees; confirm costs before agreeing to a consultation or representation.
With your consent, contact information and the submitted review summary may be shared with independent attorneys or referral networks. 2nded may receive compensation for eligible introductions or calls. Compensation does not establish that a provider is the best fit for you. You can find and contact an attorney independently.
Advertising loading is currently paused while privacy and consent settings are verified. If enabled later, advertisements are separate from review findings and are not endorsements or promises of legal help. See our privacy policy for details.
2nded is not a law firm. Not legal advice. Using this site does not create an attorney-client relationship.
